What do you think of the campaign MTV has launched for freing Aung San Suu Kyi? I think they've done a great job!

Why is an army of 400000soldiers so afraid of one woman? Is it because she might bring freedom of choice? She might allow freedom of speech?Or she may devellop something as uncontrollable as education?Worst of all, she might bring freedom, justice and hope

The MTV clip actually urges the viewers to push the United Nations to help free Daw Aung San suu Kyi from house arrest.

I read it on the news paper that MTV Europe president Brent Hansen said: "MTV is all about providing a platform for the voice of young people, and we vehemently support everyone's right to freedom of expression, no matter who they are or where they live."

A photograph of Suu Kyi then appears alongside the words: "How would you feel if your home was a prison?"

This was a powerful campaign launched by music network MTV.

Yes, and there's also the "Free your mind" award.

Free Burma From Fear

Hello,

I am just curious where all of you people are from.

I am from the United States and I spend a good deal of my time educating people here to the fact that there are over fifty million citizens in Burma who are held hostage by the SPDC regime, and that around 15 million of them are ethnic nationality race citizens who are subject to military attacks by the Burma army, extortion, rape as a weapon, destruction or confiscation of food as a weapon, denial of medicine as a weapon, torture, summary imprisonment and execution, forced relocation and forced labor.

Yet you seem to praise publicity campaigns which seem to ignore most of the issues faced by millions of Burmese citizens.
When will MTV, and the Hollywood crowd begin to recognize the "other" 49,999,999 people in Burma besides Aung San Suu Kyi?
I have a very strong feeling that Aung San Suu Kyi has been sacrificing for them, not for herself.

I don't understand the significance of Hollywood liberals, the same ones who stood in the way of the US helping Iraq gain its freedom, now coming out on behalf of only Aung San Suu Kyi, and for the most part totally ignoring the people of Burma.

They have somehow confused Burma with Nelson Mandela's South Africa, and somehow believe that freeing Aung San Suu Kyi will magically bring down the SPDC, and disburse the Burma army. They overlook the fact that the SPDC is stronger than ever, and that the last time Aung San Suu Kyi was released she was very nearly killed.

No, I am not Burmese, but I am sick and tired of the media picking and choosing what is important in this world.
In the US, the liberals try to impress upon our young people how bad war is, whether you are freeing millions of people from dictators like Saddam Hussein or not. At the same time they don't complain at all about the game manufacturers making games that are all about killing, and warfare, and sorcery, and gangs and drugs.
Meanwhile, many of the countries which the United States helped gain their freedom from the Nazis and the Japanese during WWII now tell us it is wrong to help other countries gain their freedom. The reality is that they lost a lot of business under the table with Saddam, and the money they saved by not getting involved would help make up for their losses.
Many of these same countries and their corporations are now doing business with the SPDC, it should be no surprise why there are few international efforts being waged to help anyone other than Aung San Suu Kyi gain their freedom in Burma.
Her freedom means nothing without the freedom of every citizen in Burma.
And while she may again be temporarily released from confinement, she will never be free until every other citizen of Burma is free!

Why do you think the liberals concentrate on giving Aung San Suu Kyi awards every year for being locked in her house, but they pay no attention at all to what her agenda was for the people of Burma to gain their freedom?
It is because freeing one person is a lot easier than freeing an entire country.
How many Burmese citizens think Aung San Suu Kyi would leave Burma if she were freed?

Awards and press conferences and honorary doctorates and citizenships are cheap publicity for those handing out the awards, and they don't have a clue what is going on in Burma, nor do they understand what Aung San Suu Kyi stands for.
After twenty years now of concentrating public attention only on Aung San Suu Kyi, democracy in Burma is farther away from reality than it was in 1988, and the world is still being led to believe freeing Aung San Suu Kyi will somehow change everything.

Enough is enough!
Whatever the liberals and the media think they are achieving, twenty years is enough!
Wake up the World!
Free Burma and ALL of the Burmese people!

Garrett
